Thank you for dropping by. Introductions on these things always feel like trying to get something going on some silly dating site. I shouldn’t knock dating sites, I met my girlfriend on one and she has been the best addition to my life. Wait. Did we meet on a dating site or at the pizza parlor? I seem to recall asking her if she wanted some of my “pepperoni” to which she replied, “That’s cheesy!” How do you not fall in love with that kind of retort? One of these two ways is how we actually met and I’m not telling which one is legit!
I live in Salem, the historic and wonderful New England city by the sea, and will definitely be talking about living here in the future.
I was a radio and nightclub DJ for the better part of twenty years and will be talking a lot about that here. I LOVE music, especially of the alternative persuasion, and was fortunate to work at one of the most influential radio stations in the country, WFNX-FM, before and during the alternative rock heyday. In fact, I am prominently featured in the historic documentary on the station for all of about 25 seconds. Here is a link to the entire documentary; it’s worth watching!
I was asked eleven years ago to perform some accessibility testing for what was supposed to be a two week contract job at a major educational publishing company to make sure their content was accessible to students with disabilities. That lasted until I was “re-badged” last month. Don’t you just love corporate speak? For those keeping score at home, “re-badging” is essentially trading you to a vendor for an employee to be named later and forcing that vendor to pick up your salary. I opted out of being “re-badged” as I want some say in my future. There will be more to come on that as well.
Also, I was born with a rare congenital disability that impacts one in every 3,000 people called AMC. It’s best characterized by stiff joints and abnormally developed muscles. Basically, my arms just don’t look like yours, unless you’re another lucky one in 3,000! 😉 This has never prevented me from accomplishing most things in life that I’ve set my mind to. Of course, I did want to play in the NBA but I think a lack of height might have something to do with why that didn’t exactly work out. I find the best way to face obstacles is with humor and defiance, I am the little acorn that became the 5’5” giant oak! Ha! While this is part of my life, it’s not ALL of my life. If you came here looking for some sort of inspirational, triumph over tragedy nonsense, you are at the wrong place! The amazing Stella Young coined the term Inspirational Porn, when one group of people is objectified for the benefit of another, and it sums up my belief system on the subject perfectly. There will be more to come on that as well.
And you may also find a rant about how amazing Leo Messi is or how frustrating it is to be a New England Revolution fan. Seriously? Five MLS Cup Finals and not ONE victory?
I hope you find something here over time that makes you smile, laugh, scratch your head or maybe even pound your fist on the table in agreement or disagreement with me. Again, thanks for dropping by.
